All Good and on Track

Well I have recovered from the dreaded illness that overtook our house this past weekend. It had me a little worried that this week would be a bit of a train wreck because I had missed out on some of my crucial preparation and planning time - however- Mark has had today off work so I have been able to catch up a bit!

I have to say that I am a little averse to following the Nutrition plan to the letter for this 12WBT challenge. The problem I have is twofold:

1) I know for a fact that 1200 cal is too low for me and that is what MB (that's Michelle Bridges) prescribes for the girls undertaking the challenge.
2) I hate following anything to the letter - especially meal plans - I find it far too restrictive - that and who can really afford to buy 4 punnets of blue berries and 4 punnets of strawberries in 1 weeks groceries - I thought this was meant to be affordable! (That's my rant over!)

So I have decided just to log what I am eating in Calorie king for my own benefit and stick to what I know works for me in terms of nutrition. That is 1400 - 1500 cal and a meal plan that I know I can manage. For me that generally consists of choosing two breakfasts and two lunches and alternating them throughout the week. This stops me from getting bored and gives me an element of beaing able to prepare easily. I know that 1400 cal is a full 200 over the "recommended" amount - but I know from past experience that doing a lot of training (especially as I start to take my running kilometers higher) is not possible for me when eating such a limeted number of calories. I need to be able to focus and be on top of my game to look after the boy and do everything I need to do - so for me that means eating a few more calories. Also - I am still breastfeeding the boy so that makes my requirements a little higher.

Today's training consisted of mixed cardio; Elliptical on random for 10 mins, 3km jogging intervals on the Tready and 15min on the bike.

I still haven't had a chance to do any of my measurements yet! there is also a fitness challenge test which I would like to do but I will have to wait until tonight to read through it properly and determine if it is something I can do with H in the pram or whether it will have to wait until Saturday.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

  1. I was likewise surprised about the low calorie count, I had thought that it would vary depending on your goals. To me 1200 is a weight loss amount, so I have had to modify a bit as I don't want to lose any weight.

Glad to hear you are feeling better.

  2. I was the same Andj. I'm aiming for around 1500 as I know this is good for me - I don't want to lose precious muscle. Also, I won't be buying the strawberries and blueberries, not at the prices we have to pay here. I'll substitute with frozen berries and other fruit.
